Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has informed that the reconstruction of important structures damaged by arson during the Gen-G movement will begin in two months.
In a meeting of the National Assembly’s Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Minister Khanal informed that the restoration of important structures inside Singha Durbar, which were damaged by arson during the Gen-G movement, will be started within the current budget in two months. He said that the initial estimate is that the damage to government structures due to the vandalism and arson during the Gen-G movement is around 100 billion rupees.
He informed that Rs 80 million has been deposited in the fund established to rebuild the damaged structures of the Gen G movement. Minister Khanal mentioned that the budget for fragmented projects has been cut and the budget has been allocated with priority given to strategic projects including postal, mid-hill highway, BP highway.
He said that public expenditure management, the basis and criteria for expenditure reduction have been made effective for proper budget mobilization as per the demands of the Gen-G movement. Minister Khanal said that despite the decrease in income tax, overall revenue has increased.
