The Ministry of Health has started arrangements for free health check-up of national players in Gangalal Hospital.
Kathmandu: Shahid Gangalal National Heart Disease Treatment Center is going to provide free health check-up for players, those in the national team. An agreement regarding free cardiac health check-up of all players who represent the country and contribute to international games was made today.
On Shrawan 27th, during the announcement of plans and priorities in the health sector, Minister of Health and Population Poudel announced that the Ministry will make necessary arrangements for the health examination of the players who play for the country.
Minister Paudel took initiative for the tripartite agreement.
In the presence of Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel and Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary, an agreement was signed between the Ministry, Youth and Sports National Sports Council, and the hospital regarding the free heart examination of athletes every year. According to the agreement, Gangalal will do the necessary financial management from his own resources.
According to the private secretariat of Health and Population Minister Paudel, the ministry is preparing to carry out the program by making more annual programs from the coming year, even though there are free tests on behalf of the center.
It is also arranged to renew the agreement every year.
757 players of the national team participating in the international competition will benefit from the announcement.
Paralympics bronze medal winner Palesa Govardhan was tested for health.
Speaking at the program, Minister Paudel said that since he took over the leadership of the ministry, he has prioritized the health of young players and said that it started from the heart.
Minister Paudel said that this is a gift for the athletes on the occasion of the achievement of Palesha Govardhan who contributed by winning a big medal in Para Olympics.
Minister Paudel said that he will ensure more resources next year and is ready for what else can be done to improve the health of the players
“Palesha’s achievements have made the country proud,” he said, “this is also a tribute to her.” ‘
Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary expressed his gratitude to Health Minister Paudel saying that the lack of treatment is also one of the reasons why athletes go abroad. Thanks to the Minister of Health for this initiative, he said.
