British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn and his wife Julia Fenn celebrated their wedding anniversary in Janakpur according to Hindu rituals.
A Fen couple, wearing a garland of flowers worn during a swayamvara ceremony in Mithila and a Maur pag worn by the groom on his head, celebrated their wedding anniversary. He said that he was happy to come to Janakpurdham to celebrate his wedding anniversary as Lord Ram Janaki got married in the Treta Yuga.
Fen’s wife Julia also wore a red sari and chunari (shawl) worn by brides in Mithila for good luck. As the bride and groom tied the knot, the newlyweds and the bride, accompanied by the assistant Mahant of Janaki Temple, Ram Roshan Das, also visited the Janaki Temple. Fen also gave Julia a ring. He said that the sacred birthplace of Mata Janaki and the traditional costumes, language, culture and customs of Mithila and Madhes were beautiful and the best in the world.
