Minister Paudel Said Maternity Hospital Has Played Important Role in Improving Maternal & Child health in Nepal

Minister for Health and Population Pradip Poudel has praised the historic role played by Paropakar maternity hospital in improving maternal and child health in Nepal.

Speaking at the 66th anniversary program of the Paropakar Maternity and Gynecology Hospital, he said that the hospital’s latest initiatives such as ‘neonatal screening’, ‘human milk bank’ and the re-launched IVF service are exemplary for the national health system.

He informed that in the future, the hospital will be increased to 500 beds by adding 11 beds and that preparations are underway to manage the increasing pressure in the valley by signing an agreement to build satellite maternity hospitals with 25 beds each in two municipalities of Kathmandu.

At the program, hospital director Shri Prasad Adhikari informed about the latest progress of the hospital.

The hospital has also prioritized social responsibility activities such as providing services through a One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) for victims of gender-based violence, post-air rescue treatment under the President’s Women Upliftment Program for women in remote areas, and free treatment through the Social Security Unit for the poor and underprivileged, the hospital said.

The ceremony presented a detailed review of the hospital’s achievements over the past year, plans for service expansion, and contributions to maternal and child health.
