New York. As an expression of Nepali culture, social unity, and community spirit, the Teej Daar Khane program organized by Lions Queen Club was held in New York in a grand and dignified manner.
The Chief Guest of the program was Consul General Mr. Dadhiram Bhandari. Welcoming remarks to the distinguished guests were delivered by Ms. Rupa Shah, Vice President of Lions Queen Club. The entire program was coordinated and conducted by Ms. Asha Pandey along with the Lions team.
The event commenced with the national anthems of Nepal and the United States, followed by the formal inauguration through lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest.
In her welcome address, Ms. Shah highlighted that Lions Club is one of the largest and most respected service organizations in the world. She shed light on the organization’s contributions in health, education, vision care, women and youth empowerment, disaster management, and humanitarian service. It was noted that Lions Queen Club of New York has been active in the preservation of Nepali culture, organizing blood donation campaigns, providing COVID-19 relief support, promoting women’s leadership, and celebrating various cultural festivals. Special recognition was given to Charter President Mr. Rudra Pun for his visionary leadership since the club’s inception.
The program included speeches on the cultural significance of Teej, traditional dance performances, presentations on the importance of mehendi, entertaining games, and interactive activities. Guests enthusiastically participated in the cultural and entertainment segments.
Meanwhile, it was highlighted that the entire event was successfully managed under the leadership of program coordinator and young social worker Mingma Sherpa. Recalling his dedication, responsibility, and efforts, Sherpa emphasized that the success was not an individual achievement but a collective outcome of shared commitment and service.
Towards the end, Club President Ms. Shanti Jire expressed her gratitude, extending thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, guests, and participants. All attendees were treated to Daar, symbolizing hospitality, which further strengthened mutual goodwill and togetherness.
Established with the mission of preserving and promoting Nepali art, culture, and traditional values, the club has been continuously uniting the Nepali community in America.
The club has prioritized introducing and promoting authentic Nepali culture not only in the United States but also among Nepali communities worldwide. Through various cultural programs, festivals, exhibitions, music, and dance performances, it has significantly contributed to keeping the essence of Nepali identity alive.

According to the club’s officials, “Wherever we are, we Nepalis must proudly present our culture. With this in mind, our club has been working to preserve Nepali art and culture, pass it on to the younger generation, and strengthen the identity of Nepalis in America.”
