We Will Hand Over After Election: Prime Minister Sushila Karki

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that she will hand over power to the elected government after six months.

Briefing the heads of various diplomatic bodies and ambassadors at Singha Durbar on Friday, Prime Minister Karki said that he had accepted the post of Prime Minister in the wake of the Genji Movement and would hand over power to a democratically elected government through free and fair elections, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Prime Minister Karki said that the government’s full attention is focused on the preparations for the elections. Prime Minister Karki said that the possibility of an external voting system is also being explored to gradually realize the principle of universal suffrage for Nepali citizens temporarily residing abroad. She said that international observation will play an important role in maintaining the transparency and credibility of democratic practices and expressed confidence that friendly countries will continue to support and cooperate in the election process.
