Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh has said that everyone must play a role in reducing rising air pollution.

During a discussion with experts at the Ministry of Urban Development today, Acting Prime Minister Singh expressed concern over the impact of air pollution on public life.

He also claimed that the main reason for the current increase in pollution is fires. He said that the government will take a decision on this issue soon.

During the discussion, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests, Deepak Kharal, proposed that two days off should be given a week and that vehicles should be driven in odd-even mode due to increasing pollution.

The National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs, however, said that since about 200,000 private motorcycles are responsible for more pollution than public vehicles, priority should be given to public vehicles by reducing them.
