Kishor Acharya Becomes First in UNDP Poetry Competition

Kathmandu. Kishor Acharya from Karnali Province has won first place in the national poetry competition organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) .

Acharya, a student of class 10 at Chandra Surya Secondary School in Haudi, Shubhakalika-6, Kalikot district, presented a poem titled “न्यायको खोजी”.

He gave an excellent performance and secured the top spot in the final competition between first-place finishers from all seven provinces across the country. Madhesh Province came second and Lumbini Province came third in the competition.

The poem raised important social issues such as violence against women, rights, and environmental protection. According to the jury, Acharya’s poem was not only a positive message to society but also presented in an artistic style, which earned him first place.

Accepting the award, Kishore Acharya said, “Justice is not just about seeking it in the courts. Justice can be established by increasing the level of equality, respect, and awareness in society.”

UNDP Nepal representatives have stated that the competition was a success and have expressed their commitment to publicize the winning poems through various media. It is believed that Acharya’s success will further strengthen the literary identity of Karnali Province and inspire the new generation towards creative writing.
