6.1 Magnitude Earthquake in Sindhupalchok, 1 Injured, Landslide in Bhotekoshi

An inmate at Sindhupalchowk Prison has been injured after fleeing in panic after the earthquake. According to Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer Kiran Thapa, he was injured after falling inside the prison while trying to escape in panic after the earthquake and has been taken to the district hospital for treatment.

He is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Similarly, the wall of the police post in Kodari has cracked. Similarly, a landslide has occurred in Dugunagadhi, Ward No. 3 of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality.

More details are yet to come. The police have asked all the subordinate offices to collect information. Chief District Officer Thapa informed that the team of security personnel is on standby considering the post-disaster rescue and will be deployed in the field as per the requirement.

According to the National Seismological Center, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 2:51 am on Friday with its epicenter near Bhairavkunda in Sindhupalchowk. Similarly, information has been received that the tremors of the earthquake were felt in various parts of the country, including Kathmandu.
