72 more Nepalis return home from Afghanistan

Seventy-two more Nepali migrant workers that were recently rescued from Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the Afghan capital, have arrived in Nepal on Wednesday morning.

A Qatar Airways aircraft carrying the evacuees landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 9:15 am this morning, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

They have been taken to a holding centre where all 61 will undergo Covid-19 tests after which they will be sent home.

With this, 266 people have returned to Nepal from Afghanistan on chartered flights. On Tuesday, 118 Nepalis came back home in the morning while 87 more returned to Kathmandu in the evening.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 256 more Nepalis have filled up the form stating that they want to return home as soon as possible.
