The Dahal-Nepal faction of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has called for a nationwide general strike today (Thursday). During the general strike, Dahal-Nepal group chairpersons Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhab Kumar Nepal and other top leaders have taken to the streets.
Meanwhile, food was also cooked and distributed to those who blocked the road at Koteshwor Chowk in Kathmandu. The protesters had cooked food on the streets of Koteshwar and even sat on the streets.
According to sources, leaders of the Dahal-Nepal group and former social development minister of Bagmati Pradesh Yubaraj Dulal were among those who arranged food in Koteshwor.
Activists of the Dahal-Nepal group have been blocking the movement of vehicles on the road since this morning. In some places, CPN (Maoist) cadres have also set fire to vehicles and motorcycles. Police have also arrested some CPN (Maoist) cadres.
