At a time when the interest of the youth in politics is declining, a 22-year-old youth from kalikot has been elected to a responsible post as the village secretary. Deepak Upadhyaya of Shubhakalika village municipality of the district has been elected unopposed in the first village session of the Nepali Congress.
Speaking to the media shortly after the end of the session, he said, “I am confident that the experience of being active in student politics for the last seven years will be of great help to me in working in the municipality.” Saying this, the youth leader Upadhyaya has expressed his commitment to move forward by carrying a weapon to strike the high peaks of the matter. This shows that the selection of youth leadership in the Nepali Congress is small.
A few days ago, Swastika Mahat, 19, of Dullu Municipality, Dailekh, was elected as the ward chairperson. Seen in this light, youth leadership has also started to flourish in the Nepali Congress. But whether this leadership will strengthen the political ground in a strong manner or not has become a matter of interest in the general public.
