The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has warned that it will withhold the No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, if the issue is not resolved. The ministry issued a statement on Tuesday, warning that it will withhold the NOC if the issue is not resolved.

“It is also requested for the information of all concerned that if the problem created by the said incident is not resolved in a just and legal manner, the process of issuing NOCs for foreign study permits for studies at universities and educational institutions in the state of Odisha, India, may be suspended for the future,” the ministry said in a statement.

Last Sunday, KIIT student Prakriti Lamsal died mysteriously. College staff brutalized Nepali students who demanded an investigation into the incident.

“The behavior of the university administration towards students is condemnable, as it is contrary to the global norm that students should be allowed to study by following the rules set by the respective university and paying the fees as per the rules,” the ministry said.
