Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has decided to eliminate the use of radiology film in federal hospitals to reduce the annual cost burden of one billion to the citizens .
Minister Poudel made a ministerial decision on 7th October to reduce the cost of the film and also reduce the fees of X-ray, MRI and CTscan for the citizens. Now, on this basis, 22 federal hospitals under the ministry will gradually provide digital reports to citizens.
Minister Paudel’s secretariat informed that this decision was taken to provide relief to the citizens by reducing the large amount of money being spent on the use of X-ray film, which is also considered harmful to health .
This decision will be implemented in the federal hospital and the Ministry plans to gradually expand it to private and other hospitals as well. According to the Ministry, the Federal
Veer Hospital in the capital spends about four million rupees per year for radiology films. Similarly, Kanti Children’s Hospital spends about three million rupees for this.
