Government Gives Public Holiday Today in Occasion of Tamu Lhosar

Today is ‘Tamu Lhosar’ festival. The Gurung community celebrates Tamu Lhosar on poush 15 to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year.

Since ‘Lho’ means year and ‘Saar’ means change, the day on which the year changes is called ‘Tamu Lhosar’.

Tamu Lhosar is grandly celebrated by the Gurung community as a new year. On the occasion of the festival, the government has given a public holiday across the country today.
