The state governments will now keep the QR code and photo on the tax receipt until the driver’s license is printed.
On 20th July, a meeting attended by the transport ministers of all the states decided that taking into account the delay in license printing, the states should start preparing to print the license and put the QR code and license holder’s photo on the revenue payment receipts provided at the time of issuing or renewing the license.
Currently, the license of 2 million people who have passed the license exam across the country is yet to be printed. Out of which, about 850,000 licenses of Bagmati province alone are yet to be printed, according to the ministry.
Currently, an average of 5,000 new licenses are issued or renewed daily. The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Transport of the province has also said that Bagmati State Government has allocated sufficient budget for license printing.
