Health Minister Paudel Helds Meeting with Mayors of Kathmandu Valley to Control Dengue

For dengue control, Minister Poudel held a meeting of Mayors of Kathmandu Valley and promised to cooperate to prevent it from becoming an epidemic

 

Kathmandu: Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has called a meeting between the local levels of Kathmandu Valley for dengue prevention in Kathmandu Valley. Minister Paudel has called the forum, which has members of the metropolis, sub-metropolis and municipality of the valley, asking for the necessary cooperation for control after the risk of dengue infection increasing in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in the valley.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Paudel said that if they work together, it can be controlled and the ministry is ready for policy decisions and further cooperation. We have prioritized dengue control in the valley, he said, cooperation is necessary to protect common citizens.

 

Emphasizing the experts’ opinion that dengue, which has been spreading since July, is at risk of further spreading in August and October, Minister Paudel said that he aims to support and cooperate with the local level to prevent it from becoming a disaster. He said that the infection is spreading due to the lack of sanitation and the ministry is going to clean the whole country one day in a week at the same time.

 

Minister Poudel informed that the Hall Ministry has started treatment by keeping separate desks in the hospitals of all the seven provinces keeping in mind the dengue risk. Minister Poudel urged to control dengue along with cholera by expanding awareness to the ward level, saying that initiatives are needed to prevent the spread along with treatment. He also promised that the ministry would provide all possible support to the local level for this.

 

Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Dipendra Raman Singh, said that even if only the frozen water can be reduced, a lot of damage can be controlled.

 

The chiefs and deputy chiefs of the federal capital valley of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur who participated in the program informed about the efforts made on their behalf and promised that they are ready to join hands in controlling dengue and cholera. Similarly, the representatives of rural municipality and municipal federation also said that the proposal of the ministry to cooperate was positive, saying that each other tends to work alone.

 

‘For the first time, the ministry has remembered us in the discussion of epidemic control,’ said Sushila Adhikari, Deputy Chief of Nagarjuna Municipality, ‘We are ready to cooperate in dengue control.’

 

The heads and deputy heads of the local level asked the ministry to take action against those who do not provide the quality of drinking water and to help the private hospitals because of the lack of support in the data. Lalitpur Metropolis has said that emphasis has been placed on cleanliness, while Kathmandu Metropolis has said that it is speeding up the search and control of mosquitoes every week.

 

Ministry spokesman Dr. Prakash Budhathoki said that cooperation has been done for awareness, control and cleanliness.
