According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, the Weather Forecast Division has been witnessing moderate to heavy rains across the country since the last 12 hours. In the details of the division, heavy rainfall has been measured in most parts of the country, including the federal capital, Kathmandu Valley.
According to Vinu Maharjan, meteorologist of the division, it is raining in most places of the country including Kathmandu. She informed that there was heavy rain in few places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
In the last 12 hours, there has been very heavy rain in Jhapa, Ilam and other areas of Koshi province. Meteorologist Maharjan informed that 203 mm of rain was measured in Anarmani of Jhapa, 260 mm in Chandragarhi airport and 243 mm in Ilam.
In the last one hour, there has been relatively less rain in Far West and Karnali provinces. There has been heavy rain in few places of Kathmandu. 84 mm in Kirtipur and 65 mm in Budhanilkanth, more than 60 mm in other areas of Kathmandu, the division said.
115.5 mm of rain has been measured in Lele of Lalitpur and 93.8 mm in Godavari. Meteorologist Maharjan informed that it is raining continuously in all the provinces and there is a possibility of raining all day tomorrow.
The department said that there will be some improvement in the weather after Sunday afternoon. With continuous rains, the water level has risen in most of the country’s rivers including valleys. The water level is high in Bagmati, Bishnumati, Dhobikhola in Kathmandu, Karmanasa in Lalipur, Hanumante river in Bhaktapur. The rains have generally affected the life of the whole country including Kathmandu.
