Huge Fire in Korea Battery Plant, 20 People Dead

A fire broke out in a battery plant in South Korea. Firefighters assigned for rescue said that 20 people died in the fire. The fire started at 10:30 a.m. at the plant of lithium battery manufacturer Aricel in Hwaseong, 45 kilometers south of Seoul.

 

Some people have been rescued from the scene with injuries, while it is estimated that dozens of other workers have been injured in the fire. Earlier, according to the initial information given by the security personnel, at least one worker was killed, three were injured and 21 others were missing in the incident.

 

TV footage showed small explosions in the burning plant along with the crackling sound of burning wires. No official information has been received about how the fire broke out in the three-storied concrete building spread over an area of ​​about 2,300 square meters.
