India Wins T20 World Cup Final Defeating South Africa

India won the ICC T-20 World Cup 2024 final by defeating South Africa by 7 runs. India won the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007.


South Africa, who played the final of a major tournament for the first time, ended up as runners-up. With the defeat of South Africa, the undefeated journey of the World Cup has also come to an end.


On the other hand, India has made a record by being the only team to win the World Cup title by remaining undefeated. Rohit Sharma is the only captain in the history of the World Cup to win the World Cup by remaining undefeated.


Chasing a winning target of 177 runs, South Africa scored 169 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Henrik Klaasen of South Africa scored 52 runs in 27 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes but could not avoid defeat.


At one point, South Africa needed 30 runs off the last 30 balls. India made a dramatic comeback in the game after Hardik Pandya caught Heinrich Klaasen out on the first ball of the 17th over. 16 runs were needed in the last 6 balls. After Hardik Pandya took an excellent catch out from Miller Suryakumar Yadav on the boundary, the chances of victory ended.
