Indrasarovar Lake at Kulekhani in Makwanpur is about to fill up due to continuous rain for two days.
The Indrasarovar Dam is about to open its doors after it fills up on Friday evening. The gate has to be opened keeping in mind the safety of the dam.
As the Indrasarovar Rural Municipality is about to open the gates of the dam, it has asked to be cautious in the settlements along the Bagmati River from Kulekhani Dam down through Sisneri. Residents of coastal areas have been asked to be alert as there is a possibility of sudden flooding when the dam gates are opened.
According to the municipality, the highest level of Kulekhani is 1530 meters. By 4 pm on Friday, 1,500 meters of water has reached 26.35. As the water level is rising rapidly, it will be completely filled by Saturday morning if it rises at this rate. After that, the municipality warned that if the water overflows from the dam and goes to the lower coastal area, there may be damage to people’s property.
