The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended Police Inspector (Inspector) Binukumari Shahi. On Friday, the Home Ministry sent the letter of Shahi’s suspension to the police headquarters, sources said.
Inspector Shahi has been accused of making financial transactions with a person when he was the chief of police division Lalitpur Bhainsepati, saying that he would be implicated in a case related to rape.
According to Lalitpur Police, Inspector Shahi arrested a businessman and allegedly transacted Rs 30 lakh. It is alleged that he made that amount to be deposited in the account in the name of a relative.
After that allegation, police inspector Shahi was removed as the head of Bhainsepati police division and was dragged to Ranipokhari.
In this incident, the police arrested two other people involved in financial transactions.
As his role was found to be questionable from the initial investigation of the inquiry committee, it recommended for his impeachment.
