Instructions To Develop Telecom As A Competitive Company

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has instructed the employees to work to make Nepal Telecom a professional and competitive company.

Addressing a function organized here today on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Telecom, Minister Gurung stressed on the need to transform the Telecom by reviewing how to move it forward in the coming days.

He said, “Whether yesterday’s commitment to develop Telecom as a leading company in the world has been fulfilled or not, a strategy must be formulated to make it a sustainable and sustainable company with all aspects of review.” He also instructed the staff to develop the infrastructure in the rural areas as soon as possible and provide services without any grievances. Spokesperson of the government Gurung stressed on the need for the telcos to work according to the wishes of the customers so as to contribute to the objective of a happy Nepal and a prosperous Nepal. He informed that the tower will be constructed soon.

Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, Purushottam Khanal, urged the telco to provide quality services to the people in a way that would directly benefit them. On the occasion, 50 employees who have worked for 20 years were awarded medals and the Business Partnership Association was honored. Has completed and entered its 18th year. When the company was established seventeen years ago, the customer base was around 422,000 and now it has reached 29 million.

About 70 percent of the population has access to some of the telecom services. In the Fiscal Year 2076/07, the revenue of the Telecom has reached Rs. 42.98 billion and the net profit has reached Rs. 9.74 billion.

The company has been increasing its customer base after launching Forge mobile and data services based on wireless technology in all 77 districts of the country and FTTH services based on optical fiber in 42 districts.
