CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has said that it would not be appropriate for former President Bidya Devi Bhandari to return to party politics.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Rupandehi in Butwal today, he claimed that it is not considered good for the head of state and deputy head of the party to enter active politics and that the UML has also not discussed the issue.
“It is not appropriate for a constitutional head of state to return to politics of any party. There has been some discussion in the UML as well, but I don’t think it is good for Vidya Bhandari to enter politics herself,” he said. “I don’t see that as possible in normal circumstances in the UML. It is different to have immediate advice in unusual circumstances. It is not true that she will come to compete for the chairmanship, it is just speculation.”
Former Foreign Minister Gyawali said that it is not the wish of the Nepali people that a person who has reached the highest position in the country will enter the party’s active politics. At a time when the talk of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari entering the politics of the CPN-UML is gaining momentum, the party’s Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has spoken openly about it.
