The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Odisha, India, has finally been forced to bow down to the abuse and mistreatment of Nepali students.
The college has initiated action against the staff involved in evicting more than 700 students from Nepal from the hostel with derogatory comments. The college, which had already apologized for the incident on Monday, has finally bowed to public pressure and initiated action.
The university has expressed its sorrow and apologized for the incident that occurred following the mysterious and suspicious death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal from Rupandehi on Friday.
In the incident, the KIIT administration has announced that two security personnel who assaulted the Nepali students have been dismissed. The college has suspended two dormitory wardens and an administrative officer and initiated an internal investigation, the college said in a statement.
The college said two senior hostel officers and a senior administrative officer from the International Relations Office have been suspended pending a full investigation.
The statement released on Tuesday also states that campus staff are actively working to return students to campus as soon as possible.
