The government has postponed the full implementation of the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) for the time being. The implementation of the system has been suspended for the time being due to confusion regarding the provision of mobile phones brought by Nepalis returning from abroad.

Purushottam Khanal, chairman of the authority, said that the system of registering mobile phones brought from abroad is not mandatory. “In the future, we will implement it after the necessary preparations and discussions,” he said, “the system will remain in place to register mobile phones brought by businessmen from abroad.”
