The Ministry of Health and Population has prepared to amend the law to protect doctors from attacks on health treatment in hospitals.
For this, the Ministry, which has drafted the second amendment of the Bill on the Safety of Health Workers and Health Institutions, has sought the opinion of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The doctors have been demanding protection saying that they are sometimes attacked and threatened during treatment.
In order to address this, the plan announced by Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel on 27th of July and the priority was to ensure the safety of doctors and make necessary policy reforms.
Accordingly, while preparing to amend the law, the ministry has sought the opinion of the law ministry. The provision proposed for amendment includes the provision of immediate non-bailable arrest (jail without bail) in case of assault on doctors and health workers in working health centers.
Minister Paudel’s Secretariat has said that it will contribute more to the safety of doctors. After receiving the opinion from the law, the ministry will proceed with the process of the bill.
