President of Nepal Samajwadi Party and former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai commented that the monarchy is an obstacle to the country’s development. President Bhattarai said this while speaking at an event held in Kathmandu on Saturday.
President Bhattarai claimed that Nepal is still lagging behind in development due to the complex geographical conditions and lack of production facilities. He said that because of the open border with India, the development of Nepal is getting entangled.
President Bhattarai concluded that Nepal will not develop until the unequal relations with India, including the Sugauli Treaty, are resolved. President Bhattarai also pointed out the need to move the country forward in a new way while respecting the old political leaders.
