Trishur: The stage is set for the first ever National Conference of Senior Journalists in the country. The conference will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on August 20 and 21. The formal announcement was made during a special event held at the Thrissur Press Club, which is being seen as a ‘Bugle Call’ for senior journalists across the country.
The inaugural ceremony took place during the meeting of the Forum’s state office bearers, district presidents and secretaries. The event was inaugurated by Thrissur MLA Shri P. Balachandran.
Forum’s State President Alexander Sam, General Secretary K.P. Vijayakumar, State Vice Presidents Hakeem Nattassery and Haridasan Palayil, State Secretary Franco Lewis, Thrissur District Secretary Joy M. Mannur, Vice Presidents V.M. Radhakrishnan, Joint Secretaries K. Krishnakumar, Sasimohan and Sarita Verma also addressed the occasion.
The poster prepared to announce the conference is based on the theme of the famous Malayalam film ‘Newspaper Boy’. The film is the story of a boy who, after searching for employment, earns his living by distributing newspapers – the very newspapers that become the voice of the people. It is noteworthy that ‘Newspaper Boy’ was the first neo-realist film in Malayalam cinema, which was made 70 years ago by the students of Thrissur, under the leadership of late Shri P. Ramdas.
General Secretary K.P. Vijayakumar said that publicity programmes will be organised in all the districts of the state for this national conference.
