National ID Card Will Be Mandatory to Open Bank Accounts from Magh 1

National identity card has become mandatory for opening a bank account from Magh 1. Nepal Rastra Bank has amended the ‘Integrated Directives Issued to Banks and Financial Institutions, 2080’ and made national identity card or identity card number mandatory for opening a bank account from Magh 1.

“From 1st Magh 2081, banks and financial institutions will have to verify the details of the national identity card or national identity card number based on access to the details in the electronic records of the national identity card and make arrangements to open accounts compulsorily based on the national identity card number,” the Rastra Bank has stated in the revised provisions of the unified directive.
