In the Soti case, 23 people who are in pre-trial detention have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Three years ago, 6 people, including Navraj Bi Ka, were killed in Soti village of Chaurjahari Municipality-8 in Rukum West over the issue of inter-caste love and marriage.
After the murder, the debate started in the District Court Rukum. A hearing was held in the bench of Rukum West district judge Khadga Bahadur KC on the case of duty killing and caste untouchability related to the incident that happened three years ago. On June 10, 2077, 21-year-old Navraj Vik of Bheri Municipality-4, Rana village of Jajarkot, along with his friends, chased away his Malla Thar girlfriend and went to Soti village of Chaurjahari Municipality-8, Rukum West to get married.At that time, 6 people including Navraj were killed when the locals of Soti village attacked them. The bodies of the deceased Navraj Vick and six of his friends were found on the banks of the Bheri river during a search.
Among those killed in the mass attack were Navaraj Vick along with his friends Tikaram Sunar, Ganesh Budha, Lokendra Sunar, Sandeep Vishwakarma and Govind Shahi.
