Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel has said that the number of mentally ill people is increasing. He made this statement while addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Sunday to mark National Public Health Day.
Minister Poudel also said that the ministry will form a study committee to work to prevent the spread of the disease. He pointed out the need to formulate a clear preventive policy.
He mentioned that it is necessary to raise awareness to adopt preventive methods rather than curative ones. He said that some diseases have increased due to unhealthy food and atmosphere.
If insurance coverage is also unhealthy, food is not healthy, food production is not health-friendly due to its association with health. There is no healthy air obtained from the atmosphere. There is a situation where sunlight is becoming irradiated.
People’s behavior, habits, competition, all of them are creating stress. Mental illness has increased dramatically. Mental illness has become much more complex than diseases within the physical body. Therefore, we must bring a clear preventive policy by linking these issues.
