The government honored Palesha Govardhan, the bronze medalist in the Paris Paralympics, with 65 lakh cash. Palesha was honored during a program held at Baluwatar, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
Sports coach Kaviraj Negi has been honored with Rs 585,000 and team manager Rs 292,000.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli honored the coaches including medal winner Govardhan with cash and certificates. The Council of Ministers waived the tax on this award given according to the National Sports Development Regulations.
Palesa won the bronze medal in the women’s under 57 kg competition in the K44 category of taekwondo at the Paris Paralympics, defeating the Serbian athlete. This is the biggest medal that Nepal has won so far at the international level.
