Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asked the world community to come up with an integrated adaptation action plan for defense from the mountains to the sea.

Prime Minister Oli said that the mountains of Nepal have melted due to global carbon emissions while addressing the issue of ‘Challenge due to sea level rise’ at the high-level plenary meeting under the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Discussing the causes of sea level rise, he said that with the melting of two-thirds of Asia’s mountains, at least 10 river systems have become dry, and an integrated climate adaptation action plan from the mountains to the sea is indispensable.

Prime Minister Oli emphasized that since the Himalayas are a natural ‘recharge system’, there should be a global joint effort to prevent them from melting and increasing the temperature of the sea.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli addressed the meeting of the United Nations Climate Change Insecure Forum last night. In that meeting, raising the voice of climate justice, he strongly demanded that the developed countries should allocate additional budget to the climate finance fund according to the Paris Agreement.
