PM Prachanda Fails to Get Vote of Confidence

Prime Minister Prachanda was relieved of his post after the House of Representatives rejected the proposal for a vote of confidence by the majority. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has failed to get a vote of confidence from Parliament. After the Nepali Congress and UML reached an agreement on a new equation, he decided to take a vote of confidence according to Article 100-2 of the Constitution.

138 votes are needed for a majority in the 275-member House of Representatives. But only 63 votes fell in favor of Prime Minister Prachanda. 194 votes were cast against him. And there is 1 vote for not voting. 258 MPs were present in today’s meeting.
