President Bidya Devi Bhandari has withdrawn the Citizenship Bill. Sagar Acharya, the spokesperson of the President’s Office, has informed that the bill has been withdrawn as it was deemed necessary to reconsider the issue related to the acquisition of citizenship according to the Constitution of Nepal.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister on Saturday, President Bhandari expressed her displeasure regarding the Citizenship Bill. The President expressed serious interest and concern in some of the points included in the bill. She also inquired about the Citizenship Bill in her meeting with Attorney General Khammahadur Khati on Saturday itself.
