President Visits Kalu Pandey’s Tomb

 President Bidyadevi Bhandari has laid a wreath at the tomb of Kazi Kalu Pandey at Chandragiri Municipality-1, Dahchok today. On the occasion, she laid a wreath at the full-length statue of Kalu Pandey. President Bhandari also visited the Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings from the Dahchok View Tower. On the occasion, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha briefed the President about the historical and religious aspects of Dahchok. Dahchok, a historical and religious tourist destination, has been included in the list of 100 tourist destinations by the government. There is also rainbow in Dahchok. The Indradaha Tourism Festival is being held in that place every year on the 9th of Phagnu. Dahchok has been flooded with domestic tourists. Especially on public holidays, the people of the valley and the surrounding areas come to Dahchok for entertainment. From Dahchok, Kathmandu Valley as well as Dhading, Nuwakot and Gorkha can be seen. Kalu Pandey, the Chief of Army Staff of Prithvinarayan Shah, the pioneer of Nepal’s unification, was martyred on 19 June 1814 BS during the Kirtipur War. After his death, Kazi Kalu Pandey expressed his desire to bury my body in such a way that he could have a vision of Gurkha and Manakamana.
