The bench of Judge Himlal Belbase of Kaski District Court has extended the deadline for investigation by remanding Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) Chairman Lamichhane for another 15 days.
Lamichhane was arrested on October 2 from Kathmandu for cooperative fraud and organized crime.
Lamichhane asked to be released from custody
The judge has rejected the request of the President of the People’s Democratic Party, Lamichhane, to release him from custody.
In Judge Belbase’s courtroom, Speaker Lamichhane asked for his release on bail.
After listening to the request, Judge Belbase said that even if he was released from Kaski, he would extend the detention period because he would be taken elsewhere, according to legal experts present at the debate.
Ravi Lamichhane said in the courtroom, husband, let me stay outside, I will not go anywhere, I will not run away, I will help the court. You said to release him on bail,’ said a lawyer present in the courtroom, ‘In response, the judge said that there are cases against you in many places, even if you are released from here, you will be taken to another place, you should stay here. I will give you an extension now.’
Arrest warrants have also been issued against Lamichhane in Kathmandu, Chitwan and Rupandehi. Meanwhile, Lamichhane has reached Rupandehi and given a statement. There are preparations to bring him to Kathmandu.
