The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order not to immediately start work on the 10 ropani 14 annas land given to the CPN-UML by the owner of Bhatbhateni supermarket, Min Bahadur Gurung, to build a party office.

While hearing the petition filed by advocate Gnyan Kumar Basnet, the single bench of Judge Sunil Kumar Pokharel on Monday issued a short-term interim order not to proceed with the donation process immediately. Whether the interim order will be issued or not will now be discussed in the joint bench. For the said discussion, the bench itself has called both the parties on 26th of October.

Earlier, the court administration refused to register this writ. After the administration rejected the registration (bench), the writ petitioner went to the bench. The bench of Judge Til Prasad Shrestha had ordered to register the matter as it is of public concern and should be explained by the bench.

The corruption case of Lalit Niwas is pending against the person who donated 10 ropani and 14 annas of land in the writ, and at a time when public questions are being raised as to why the land of the disputed person was taken, the prime minister led by the government even inaugurated the building, so an interim order has been issued to stop it. It was demanded in the writ to issue an interim order to stop the construction of the said building in the first hearing.

Gurung Lalita is the main culprit in the land scam case. The special court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment. In the same case, a case related to written offense (Kirte) is also pending in the district court. He has also been found guilty in a VAT evasion case.
