Tanjim, who quarreled with Nepal’s captain Paudel, is under ICC action

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken action against Bangladesh fast bowler Tanjim Hasan Shakib who clashed with Nepal captain Rohit Poudel during the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday.

 

The ICC issued a press release on Tuesday and said that they have taken action against him. 15% of his match fee will be deducted.

The incident took place after the last ball of the third over between Tanjim and Rohit while Nepal was chasing a target of 107 runs in St. Vincent.

He bowled opener Kushal Bhurtel for 4 runs and caught Anil Sah out for a wicket. Then he came to the middle of the pitch and said something to Rohit. Rohit also got angry and immediately replied to him.

 

Tanjim even pushed Rohit with his hand. Tamjim was stopped by Liton Das and Rohit by Asif Shaikh from further fighting. Immediately after the incident, the umpire called Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hasan Santo and said something.

 

He was taken into action because of violation of 2,12 rules between players and supporters of the ICC Code of Conduct. Tanjim admitted the mistake with the match referee Richardson. On the other hand, after the match, Rohit was told to go bowling at that time.

 

Tanjim took 4 wickets for 7 runs with 2 maidens in 4 overs to bowl out Nepal for 85 runs. On his own ball, Rohit was caught out by Rishad Hasan at backward point for 1 run. He kept 21 balls out of 24.

 

Bangladesh beat Nepal by 21 runs and made it to the Super 8 with 6 points from Group D. Nepal got out of the group stage with 1 point in 4 games.
