Thai AirAsia will operate simultaneous flights from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport and Bhairahawa’s Gautam Budh International Airport from Sunday, Kartik 18.
The regulator Nepal Civil Aviation Authority took action against the Thai Air Asia plane that came to Kathmandu without permission on 11th October. His suspended flight was lifted after the airline apologized to the authority.
According to the authority’s information officer Gyanendra Bhool, after AirAsia realized the mistake and apologized, the flight permission was released with the condition of flying from both Kathmandu and Bhairahawa destinations.
The company has been given permission to operate four flights to Kathmandu and two to Bhairahawa in a week. If the flight to Bhairahawa is stopped, the flight to Kathmandu will be automatically cancelled.
After submitting the flight schedule of two weekly flights from Bhairahawa from November 3rd, Thai AirAsia has been released its permission to fly to Nepal on the condition that it will resume flights from Kathmandu from the same day on which it will fly from Bhairahawa. According to the ‘approval schedule’, Kathmandu and Bhairahawa will have to fly together,” he said.
After Thai AirAsia submitted an explanation and apologized, its entire flight was canceled, information officer Bhool said.
The Thai AirAsia plane, which came to Kathmandu from Thailand without permission, was allowed to land at the Kathmandu airport after being ‘held’ for almost an hour. The airline’s official agent for Nepal, 9GSA, was also prosecuted.
Thai AirAsia took flight permission only for Kartik 26, i.e. until October 10. The authority had made a ‘Winter Schedule’ of international flights from October 11. The authority took action after the flight tried to land without permission.
