Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has said that there are many problems in the health sector of Nepal.
He said this while speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Charity Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday. He said that without identifying the problem, there will be no solution and that he is working to identify the problem first.
He said that among the hospitals, the health service of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is commendable. He said that the work done by the hospital is good within the current resources. He said that it is necessary to work effectively within the available resources and manpower. He also said that the manpower of health workers in Nepal is limited.
There are many problems in Nepal’s health sector. I have to say this despite being in charge of the Ministry of Health. In particular, the problem cannot be solved without identifying it.
Without identifying the disease, it cannot be treated. In hospitals, delivery is a little earlier, a little more organized. I am not saying that in the name of happiness that its health service is very effective, but in comparison it is a little ahead, it needs to be perfected.
There is no position to take satisfaction in the fact that this kind of achievement has been achieved within the current resources. There is no position to increase resources, there is no position to increase manpower.
We need to increase effectiveness within the available resources and manpower. I am trying to request you to give me more time in the hospital. In Nepal, the manpower of health workers is very limited, our manpower is small.
Minister Paudel’s request to doctors to work so that hospital queues are reduced
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel asked the doctors to work to reduce queues at hospitals.
On the anniversary of Charity Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Minister Poudel said that systemic reforms are necessary to reduce the queue of those who come for treatment. Similarly, he said that even though the token system was implemented, it was used in the same way.
Minister Paudel stressed that by opening a token for one hour a day, the service users should be provided time in the same token. “I heard that they would take a handful of tokens at once, and give them to those sitting in the tea shop,” he said, “that’s why this token system had to be organized.”
Minister Poudel said that the doctors should work with more time to increase the effectiveness of health services by using the resources and means they have.
