We Will Adjust the Price of Medicines within a Month: Health Minister Paudel

Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel has said that the prices of all types of medicines will be adjusted within a month.

Addressing the opening ceremony of inspection and digitization of Parvat Hospital on Tuesday, Minister Paudel said that price adjustments have been started to end the arbitrary behavior of pharmacy businessmen and companies. He said that after the government adjusts the prices, drugs will be bought and sold all over the country based on the same price list and patients will not be cheated. He said that the work of price adjustment of medicines has reached the final stage.

Minister Paudel said that the government is committed to provide quality health facilities to citizens in an accessible manner. He said that work is being done to improve the health sector so that the poor and helpless citizens can easily enjoy all the health facilities and no one has to die prematurely due to lack of treatment.

Minister Paudel said that preparations are being made to revise the health insurance program that was started during the time of then Health Minister Gagan Thapa. At that time, the health insurance was Rs.1 lakh, but now it has been increased to Rs. He said that there is a plan to reach five lakhs.

He also said that for this purpose, 2 percent of the monthly salary of the employed employees will be deposited in the health insurance fund. He says that this will make it easier to treat those who do not have money. He said that even in all taxes collected by the government, there should be a provision to go to the insurance fund, and the health insurance tax should be tripled.

Minister Paudel said that arrangements have been made to vaccinate 1.6 million teenage girls across the country against cervical cancer and said that vaccine storage is currently underway. He also said that programs such as free cancer treatment for children under the age of 14 have benefited a lot.

In another context, Minister Paudel said that due to lack of resources, the health sector could not be developed as desired. He also narrated the plan to make the health sector quality and accessible by managing the resources.
