Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has accused the government of humiliating the protesting teachers.
Addressing a program organized by Press Center Nepal in Kathmandu on Saturday, he emphasized the need to bring the School Education Act, even if it is through a short cut.
“The government is trying to humiliate teachers by indulging in shame,” Prachanda said. “The act should be brought immediately and implemented in a short time, as agreed with the teachers.”
He also criticized Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for showing a double standard towards the teachers’ agitation. “The person who incited teachers to protest when he was in the opposition is now the Prime Minister, but teachers are being insulted,” Prachanda said.
However, he stated that even when they were in government, they were in favor of addressing legitimate demands and agreed accordingly, adding that they still hold the same view.
